CARLSTADT, NJ – VGS installed 300 monitors throughout concession stands around the stadium, as well as in particular club suites. Operation managers requested that individual concessions feature wall-to-wall monitors, some with up to 21 in a row. The monitors run dynamic menu board content, including custom video effects, which can easily be updated via tablet allowing stadium personnel to walk around and control every feature of the displays. Sony monitors, both 48-inch and 32-inch, were used exclusively for this Digital Menu Board System. The quality of the monitors enhances both the menu board graphics and video playback for a stunning presentation.
“We listened very closely to the stadium staff when designing layouts for the displays,” explains Keith Laudati, a Digital Menu Board Design Specialist at VGS. “Working around the clock, we produced 28 menu templates and several 3D video presentations, as well as assorted 2D video clips and dozens of specialized combo graphic images.”
In addition to branded menu board templates and stunning visual effects, the VGS Digital Menu Board System provides users with the ability to easily change menu items, calorie information, pricing and more. The system also allows the user to change graphics, video-clips and food imagery, helpful when switching from a sporting event to an entertainment event in the same venue. An advanced scheduling feature expedites immediate changes right at the concession stand, helping to lift sales and push inventory.
Users control the system via Ethernet connection or hand-held tablet, which is useful when an internet connection is not available. Tablet control gives users the ability to walk around the stadium and make changes right on the spot. “Visual Graphics Systems has been supplying Digital Menu Board Systems for over 15 years and we are so proud to have been chosen to work exclusively with Yankee Stadium,” explains Frank Alvy, Director of Digital at VGS. Alvy goes on to say, “The VGS Digital Menu Board System is truly easy to use and it’s loaded with all the features you need for an out-of-this-world display.” Installation crews worked hard to have the digital menu boards ready for opening day. VGS technicians were on hand to test and train during the intense installation process.
In addition to menu board functionality, the system can also be used for way-finding to direct guests to the concession of their choice.
VGS, as a full service manufacturer of next generation signage, also supplies complementary products to support menu board systems, such as wall murals, freestanding displays, countertop displays and wall/ceiling displays.
